Our Story
Te Pirita Enterprises has proudly served the Canterbury farming community since 1976. What began as a small collective of local farmers, pooling resources to support each other through cultivation and drilling work, has grown into a dynamic agricultural business grounded in innovation, reliability, and practical know-how.
Born out of necessity during tough economic times, our cooperative model meant shared machinery, shared costs, and shared success. Over time, demand grew beyond our own paddocks, and Te Pirita Enterprises began offering services to neighbouring farms across the region.

From co-op to commercial
In 2013, Neil Costello joined the team as a machinery operator. With just two tractors and a clear vision for the future, he helped lead the transition from syndicate to full commercial operation by 2017. That same year, we built our dedicated workshop, now the heart of our operations, enabling us to expand our capabilities and take on more complex engineering and maintenance work.
Today, Te Pirita Enterprises runs a fleet of four tractors and employs a skilled team of eight, delivering tailored agricultural contracting services and trusted parts solutions across Canterbury and New Zealand.

We only sell what we use
We’re proud to partner with international brands like Aricks, Mudsmith, Otico, and Forges De Niaux, supplying products we’ve rigorously tested on our own machines. If it doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t go on your machine. That’s why Te Pirita is the only New Zealand distributor of Aricks- tools we believe in, because we use them ourselves.
Te Pirita Enterprises is proudly family-owned and led by Neil and Gabi Costello, who manage daily operations across our contracting, engineering, and import/distribution arms.
As Managing Director and Business Manager, we work side by side to drive the business forward - supported by a board of experienced shareholders who are experienced in a multitude of businesses and active farmers who bring valuable insight from the land.
That connection to farming is core to how we operate. It means the tools we sell, the solutions we engineer, and the services we offer are all shaped by real-world experience and built for New Zealand conditions.
Locally Owned. Farmer-Focused. Forward Thinking.
